Hello,

Happy you’re here! What I’m up to:

Currently, I’m working towards getting my Dual Ph.D. in Computer Science and Communication from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. I’ve officially passed all my qualifying exams!

At LINK Lab, with Dr. Agnes Horvat, I’m researching the networks behind the creation and diffusion of knowledge online. I’m interested in how scientific findings transform as they travel through various information channels, from academic journals to social media and mainstream news, often becoming oversimplified or misrepresented in the process.

With Dr. Duri Long, I’m designing explainable AI experiences that allow users to comprehend and trust the results created by machine learning algorithms. I’m particularly interested in the role of algorithmic trade-offs in AI literacy and governance. Through this work, I'm developing frameworks that make complex AI decision-making processes more transparent and understandable to non-technical users, helping bridge the growing gap between AI capabilities and public understanding.

My other research interests include analyzing the user experience of AI interfaces through a critical lens, particularly focusing on dark patterns that exploit cognitive biases to manipulate user behavior. My work on illusory AI-mediated intimacy examines how algorithms engineer parasocial attachments while blurring boundaries between authentic and synthetic connection, revealing patterns of dependency and perceptual dissonance in these increasingly persuasive environments. I like to challenge techno-optimistic narratives by developing frameworks for responsible design that prioritize user agency over engagement metrics.

Finally, through developing card games specifically tailored for young people, I'm creating accessible, playful entry points for complex ethical conversations about AI, helping adolescents build conceptual frameworks for algorithmic literacy in increasingly AI-saturated futures!
